What liquid oxygen is, and why the grade matters

Liquid oxygen is oxygen chilled to around minus 183 C, at which point a vessel holds enough to run a site for days rather than hours. Vaporised at the point of use it delivers the same gas a cylinder would, without the handling that a comparable number of cylinders would demand.

It is the standard answer wherever oxygen demand is continuous: a hospital manifold that cannot be allowed to run dry, a furnace running oxygen enrichment around the clock, a cutting shop whose cylinder changes have become a full time job.

Liquid oxygen is cryogenic and strongly oxidising, a combination that makes ordinary materials dangerous. It causes severe cold burns, and oxygen enriched clothing, oil or grease can ignite violently. Keep all hydrocarbons away from vessels and fittings, ventilate the area, and use only equipment rated for cryogenic oxygen service.

Do you supply liquid oxygen to hospitals?Bulk liquid oxygen supply for hospital manifolds is part of what we deliver. Please confirm your site requirement with us directly so we can confirm current licensing and commitments.

What size vessel will we need?That depends on your measured consumption and how long a buffer you want. We size the vessel against real usage rather than selling storage you will not fill.

Is liquid oxygen the same grade as cylinder oxygen?It is supplied to the same grades as our compressed oxygen line. Confirm the exact specification with us for your application.
