What propane is, and why the grade matters

Propane is a liquefied fuel gas that gives a clean, controllable flame and a high heat output for the space it occupies. It stores as a liquid under modest pressure and draws off as vapour, so a single pack holds far more energy than a compressed gas cylinder of the same size.

In industrial use it is chosen where a burner needs steady, adjustable heat without the intensity of an oxy acetylene flame: kilns, dryers, process burners, forklift fuel and site heating. It is also easier on consumables than higher temperature fuel gases, which matters where equipment runs continuously.

Propane is highly flammable and heavier than air, so leaked gas collects at low level rather than dispersing upward. Keep cylinders upright and secured, store and use them in ventilated areas away from drains and pits, and check connections with leak solution rather than a flame.

How is propane priced and delivered?Pack size and delivery frequency are set against your burner load, and quoted with your enquiry rather than published as a standard rate.

Can propane replace acetylene for cutting?For some work, yes. Propane runs cooler and is often cheaper for heating and heavy preheat, while acetylene still leads on fast piercing and cutting. We supply both, so tell us the work rather than the gas.
